Collaboration with Verner Panton to create the colorful world of Dries Van Noten [Men's Spring/Summer 2019]

Jul 2, 2018

DRIES VAN NOTEN's Spring/Summer 2019 men's collection was unveiled at Paris Fashion Week on June 21st. The first look featured swim shorts with undulating color gradients. The motif was a print by Verner Panton, a representative of mid-century modern design. This season, the collection is a collaboration with Panton, presenting a rhythmic men's collection that incorporates Panton motifs with the magic of Dries' signature colors. The vibrant rainbow motif, which is also featured on the swim shorts, is also used on oversized t-shirts and work jackets, and the overlapping colors of the orange jacket and burgundy shirt continue the Dries-esque world. The Panton motif's gradations of blue to navy, yellow to brown, and orange to red are applied to basic items from men's tailored clothing, workwear, and sportswear, allowing for enjoyable layering with cotton, linen, shiny nylon, denim, and transparent materials.

Before the collection, news was announced that the majority of the shares would be sold to the Spanish Puig Group, and attention was focused on the future of the brand, which has succeeded as an independent luxury brand from Antwerp without relying on outside capital, but it was announced that Dries himself would remain in his role as creative director and chairman.
