Hiroshi Fujiwara's convenience store, "THE CONVENI (GINZA SONY PARK)," will open on the basement floor of Ginza Sony Park, located on the former Sony Building site, on August 9th. A press preview was held the day before, revealing the interior.

Ginza Sony Park is a unique vertical multi-level park with an atrium consisting of a flat, 707-square-meter ground level and a "Lower Park" extending up to four basement floors. Based on Sony's philosophy of "doing what others haven't done," the park will be an "ever-changing park," featuring experimental shops and events. As part of the Ginza Sony Park Project's Phase 1, the park will open as an open public space until fall 2020. Phase 2, planned for 2022, will see the construction of a new Sony Building on the ground floor, "Upper Park," while maintaining the same concept. Previously, "THE PARK・ING GINZA," directed by Hiroshi Fujiwara, was located on the building's third basement floor. Now, in collaboration with JUN, "THE CONVENI (GINZA SONY PARK)" will open on the first basement floor, offering a lineup that lives up to the name "convenience store": sweets, ice cream, bottled and canned juice and tea, alcohol, plastic umbrellas, magazines, newspapers, Frixion pens, batteries, and more. Everything from automatic glass doors, large refrigerators, display shelves, plastic shopping bags, cash registers, lighters in front of the register, Bicycle playing cards displayed like cigarettes, and even in-store music are typical convenience store features. The magazine corner, located in front of the mirrored back door that you often see in convenience stores, stocks back issues of the current publication month selected by Magnif, a secondhand bookstore in Jimbocho that specializes in magazines.

Inside the fridge, disguised as canned and bottled drinks and convenience store sweets, are T-shirts, tote bags, bandanas, towels, key chains, smartphone rings, and more, all original THE CONVENI products and collaborations with FRAGMENT DESIGN, NEIGHBORHOOD, WTAPS, FR2, and others. The cream puffs and puddings are candles, and the contents of the egg cartons are bath bombs and soap.

Other products on sale include retaW, a fragrance brand directed by Hiroshi Fujiwara, collaborations between THE CONVENI and confectionery manufacturers such as Black Mont Blanc, Umaibo, and Tabemundesu, a parody snack of the Fujifilm Instax camera, as well as Bikkuriman chocolate in collaboration with Fragment Design.

An official app will be released on August 1st, providing the latest news and new items via push notifications. If you register as a member, you can collect points and exchange them for limited edition novelties. Details of the novelties will be released on the official website (http://theconveni.com). From the first day of opening until the 11th, only those who win a lottery for numbered tickets will be allowed in the store. It is currently undecided whether people will be allowed in the store from the 12th onwards. For more information, check the official website.
