Hender Scheme has announced its 2018-19 Fall/Winter collection, "FLAT." It will be available at its directly managed store, SKIMA, and participating retailers nationwide from June 2nd.
This season's lineup includes shoes born from new ideas that overturn the conventions of leather shoemaking, as well as accessories made from the brand's own unique tanned patent leather.
The shoe line features innovative designs with never-before-seen concepts, such as the "mutation 3" (56,000 yen), which combines chukka boots with sneaker cross strap details, and the "full lace trek" (55,000 yen), which is based on trekking shoes and incorporates a mocha stitching technique with shoelaces. Additionally, shoes crafted with luxurious materials unique to fall and winter will also be available, including "mouton lace" (¥42,000), a whole-cut shoe made from double-faced mouton, and "kate" (¥33,000), a doctor's shoe made from tweed by the British company MOON. The "manual industrial products" (commonly known as the "homage line"), which adds one model each season, will feature basketball shoes made from calfskin for the first time. The "typical color exception" series, which explores the secondary use of color schemes, incorporates corporate colors such as blue x yellow and red x yellow into loafers and Gibsons. Bags include the "leather core tote" (¥52,000), a full-leather tote bag made from leather all the way through to the core, and the "functional tote bag" (¥28,000), a large-capacity two-way nylon bag with a leather-reinforced core. The store also offers a wide selection of small items, such as wallets and card cases, made from its unique "natural patent leather" material, which is made from vegetable-tanned cowhide leather with a genuine enamel finish. This finish, which is not usually applied to tanned leather, adds a glossy coating and makes the leather stain- and dirt-resistant, making it a special item that is not only easy to use but also allows you to enjoy the charm of tanned leather as it ages over time.
Other unique goods available include a door stopper made from a shoe heel (6,000 yen), a book cover made from imported vachetta leather (10,000 yen), a leather scarf (12,000 yen), a candle with a leather lid, and a cowhide puzzle, all of which utilize the techniques and ideas cultivated through leather shoemaking.
