Artistic Director Clare Waight Keller's looks for Givenchy's Pre-Spring 2019 collection have been revealed.
This season's women's collection blends traditional men's tailoring with '80s elements, such as sharp shoulders and asymmetrical lines, incorporating practicality for both day and night, drawing on Clare's British roots. Also, following in the footsteps of Hubert de Givenchy, who had a lifelong interest in Japanese culture, the collection was inspired by Clare Waight Keller's travels to Japan, where she visited in April, and features fireworks and manga prints on fabrics.
The men's collection combines ideas from the '80s and '90s with a modern twist, expressing the Givenchy man through four keywords: "the rebel," "the boy," "the gentleman," and "the lover." Key pieces include a reversible embroidered tour jacket, a hand-toothed car coat, and a silk jacquard evening jacket, while the gown features judo-style sleeves, giving the collection a Japanese influence.
