Event Date:2018.06.07-06.11
May 15, 2018
As part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, Hobonichi Itoi Shimbun (Hobonichi) will be holding its third "The Joys of Life" exhibition at Yebisu Garden Place from June 7th to 11th, with the theme of "A special shopping street that can only be found here."

Hobonichi Itoi Shimbun, the online media hosting the event, will celebrate its 20th anniversary on June 6th. To commemorate this, the "The Joys of Life" exhibition will bring together a variety of artists, connoisseurs, brands, shops, and companies, and feature events such as stores, workshops, attractions, and mini-live performances.

The venue will be divided into four areas, with approximately 70 stores welcoming visitors.
The event is packed with content and offers a "festival atmosphere," with the "Delicious Square" serving the finest food such as bento boxes, sweets and coffee, the "Welcome Approach" lined with lively tents like festival stalls, the "Fun Plaza" main area where a variety of shops are gathered, including clothes, accessories, food, daily necessities and miscellaneous goods, and the "Lively Garden" where you can enjoy activities other than shopping, such as caricatures, palm reading, shoe shining, a flea market and daily events.

Sandwich House Märchen "Märchen Treasure Box"

The menu and contents of each shop were planned in collaboration with the exhibitors and Hobonichi for the Tanoshimi Exhibition. At "Oishi Hiroba," you can enjoy a variety of original menu items, including special fruit sandwiches like the "Sea Sandwich" and "1101 Sandwich" that were developed especially for this day, "Sandwich Marchen," which features the Hobonichi-selected "Märchen Treasure Box" with five popular sandwiches, and "Gourmet Toast Shop by BALMUDA," where you can top freshly baked bread with Hobonichi's original "Our Jam" or "Feeling Jam." If you like what you see, you can also purchase toasters, jams, and honey so you can recreate the taste at home.

FLOTO GELATO & BISCUIT
A wide variety of "Tanoshimi Bento" (Fun Bento Boxes), created exclusively for the Joys of Life exhibition, will also be available. This year's exhibitors include Chioben, Kesennuma's Saikichi, and the first-timers Otsuna Sushi Honpo, Ohitsuzen Tambo, and Tokyo Taiwan. Other exhibitors include Jinsuke Mizuno and Hobonichi's Curry Car, and FLOTO GELATO & BISCUIT, offering a selection of gelato desserts in special flavors made with seasonal fruits.

Enjoy delicious home-cooked meals with discoveries like Tsukiji's Hayashiya Nori Shop, Kesennuma's Saikichi's Seafood and Mountain Products, and the HAPPY NUTS DAY Peanut Butter Shop.

We'll also be holding a unique and luxurious event where you can enjoy a different combination each day, fulfilling your wish to "enjoy the coffee from that shop with the sweets from that shop." Enjoy a dream collaboration between foodremedies, run by independent confectioner Yoshiko Nagata, YAECA's confectionery division PLAIN BAKERY, and SHOZO COFFEE; Fuglen Tokyo and PATH, which were brought together through a mutual invitation; and Kesennuma Anchor Coffee and Confectionery Workshop Rusurusu, which will be meeting for the first time. Enjoy delightful pairings that change daily.

The "Great Fun Plaza" will feature works by popular photographer Kawashima Kotori, picture book author Arai Ryoji, and illustrator Shiokawa Izumi, including a special pocket album with a matching design for the "FlatSnap," as well as a rare collaboration piece from Kouseido, a store selling Banko ware plates and casseroles, which took more than a year to plan and realize. Ceramic artist Uchida Koichi, who only works with his own pottery, will be unveiling his first tableware production together with stylist Ito Masako.

A Journey Through White Shirts

"A Journey Through White Shirts" is a popular project that Mitsukoshi Isetan and Hobonichi have been running for over three years. The booth is lined with refreshing white shirts perfect for early summer.

JINS x Hobonichi's "Cute Reading Glasses & Sunglasses for Adults and Children" offers "reading glasses that make life more enjoyable" and "sunglasses that make summer more fun." Other items on offer include original clothing made by popular stylist Setsuko Todoroki, a "small summer flea market" by MHL, "Naomi Ito's tailoring atelier" where you can order clothes using original fabrics, and a "custom-made striped shirt store" run by Niigata factory brand "G.F.G.S" where you can freely choose the size, stripe color, thickness, and sleeve length to create a one-of-a-kind piece.
trippen ZORI

In addition, many stores will be participating in the Joys of Life exhibition for the first time. "trippen," a shoe brand born in a small gallery in Berlin, will be the first in the world to unveil and pre-sell its new "ZORI" collection. For just five days, "Taeko Kusaba Cosmetics Store" will offer cosmetics selected by hair and makeup artist Taeko Kusaba, and group makeup lessons are available by reservation and for a fee. Another major attraction of the event is the opportunity to encounter unique exhibitors and shops, including artists and stylists who don't usually appear in stores, as well as brands and companies that show off a different side of themselves. Hobonichi will also have its own space, selling 20th anniversary merchandise such as T-shirts and pouches, as well as planners and fountain pens. Various activities throughout the venue, including a flea market, workshops, a caricature shop, a mini-movie screening, capsule toys, a shoe shine room, and a palm reading room, will liven up the event. Experience the dazzling magic of close-up magician Tomohiro Maeda, enjoy live performances by the Kurikorder Quartet and tabla player U-zhaan in a special trio, and enjoy a mini screening of "TONKO HOUSE." There's also a plant dyeing workshop offering a glimpse into the world of "Atelier Shimura," a brand that carries on the artistic spirit of Fukumi Shimura and Yoko Shimura. Various events will be held throughout the five days, including capsule toys from the "Kitan Club" that children can enjoy, and a luxurious caricature shop where Wada Radio, Imagawa Nobuhiro, Robin Nishi, Yabe Taro, and Shimoda Masakatsu will make appearances on a daily basis.

Details about each booth and how to participate in the workshops can be found on the official website (http://seikatsunotanoshimi.1101.com/).
