Event Date:2018.08.25-08.26
May 14, 2018
The Pola Museum of Art in Hakone will be hosting "FOREST MUSEUM 2018," a two-day, one-night outdoor event offering an overnight camping experience in the forest on the museum grounds, from August 25th to 26th. The event will feature exclusive gallery talks and outdoor film screenings at the museum after closing time, events that you wouldn't normally be able to experience.

The museum will be hosting the "Redon: Open Dreams - From the Fin de Siècle of Fantasy to the Present" exhibition from July 22nd to December 2nd. On the first day of the event, August 25th, the museum will be rented out after closing time, and a special talk event for the "Redon: Open Dreams" exhibition will be held from 5:00 PM. Guests will be treated to a special one-day cinema in the forest, featuring art teller Toni, who works to make art accessible to everyone. He will discuss the exhibition's appeal with the curator while viewing the artworks. Also, in the evening, a special cinema will open in the forest for one day only. Films selected by Sato Daisuke, the video creator behind the outdoor film festival "Forest Film Festival: Night Sky Intersection," will be screened. Grab a lantern and enjoy a fantastical film experience while feeling the night breeze. Dinner will be served buffet-style at the Pola Museum of Art's Restaurant Alley, and breakfast will feature freshly baked bread and soup provided by Hakone's long-established Fujiya Hotel. At Mori no Café & Bar, you can enjoy delicious coffee and local beer in collaboration with coffee specialist Mame Kobo Coffee Roast and Odawara's long-established Suzuhiro Kamaboko.

In addition, the Forest Library has been opened, where you can enjoy the luxury of reading a book while listening to the chirping of wild birds and the murmuring of a stream amidst the lush green trees, and hammock workshops are also held. The package includes a day trip ticket to Hakone Yuryo hot spring in Hakone Yumoto, known for its "beauty-skin baths," and souvenir POLA amenities, so the fun continues all the way home.

The participation fee is 23,000 yen per person (tax included), and applications must be made by two or more people per group, with a limit of 20 groups. Applications will be accepted on Peatix (http://polamuseum2018082501.peatix.com) from 10:00 AM on June 15th until July 7th. Applications will be drawn by lottery, and the results will be notified via Peatix around July 10th. Camping equipment such as tents, mats, lanterns, and chairs will be provided, so you can participate even if you don't have a tent. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian; preschool children are not permitted.

In the past, painters brought their canvases from indoors to outdoors, opening the door to a new style of painting known as "Impressionism." Why not open the door to a new experience at this event filled with light, color, and air?
