LISSON GALLERY, one of the UK's leading art galleries, has published an archive book, "ARTIST | WORK | LISSON," to commemorate its 50th anniversary. A commemorative fair will be held at two locations in Tokyo.
Since its founding in 1967, the gallery has continued to have a major impact on the contemporary art scene working with world-class artists. This archive book, created using the gallery's valuable materials, includes records of over 500 exhibitions by over 150 artists that have been held to date, as well as texts and reviews by renowned critics and excerpts from past publications. The list of participating artists includes internationally renowned names such as Marina Abramović, Ai Weiwei, and Lawrence Weiner.

The book also includes a wide variety of materials and valuable collections, such as sketches by Richard Deacon, handwritten catalogue layouts by Sol LeWitt, installation instructions by Carl Andre, and postcards from artists to gallery founder Nicholas Logsdail, making it an extremely comprehensive book of over 1,000 pages. The book's design was created by Dutch designer Irma Boom, and the cover features specially created artwork by French artist Daniel Buren.

In addition, to commemorate the publication of the book, a fair will be held at Daikanyama T-Site and POST in Ebisu, Tokyo. Lisson Gallery will exhibit and sell limited editions (limited to 10 copies per artist) created at the gallery's request from its artists. Two types will be available: a "handmade edition" in which the artist directly applies the artwork to the cover, and a "digital edition" in which the artwork is digitally printed. Other related goods will also be available, including posters and tote bags designed by Irma Boom for the fair. Each venue will also host a one-day-only talk event featuring Ossian Ward, the book's editor and the gallery's content chief, along with Tatsuo Miyajima, an artist represented at the gallery, and Ryan Gander, who will be visiting Japan for his solo exhibition "Moonlighting" at TARO NASU (May 19th - June 16th).
