Christian Louboutin will be releasing its new tote bag, "Manilacaba," on the third floor of the Isetan Shinjuku main store's men's building for the first time in the world. In addition, a pop-up will be running from May 2nd to 29th featuring two styles of sneakers and dress shoes from the 2018 Fall/Winter collection, which will be released in the store first.
Manila Caba Black Satin (¥189,000)
Following the Africaba and Mexicaba, born from Christian Louboutin's adventures in Africa and Central America, the Manila Caba (¥189,000) marks the finale of his joyous trilogy. Inspired by the diverse cultures and traditions of a new continent, Asia and the Philippines, the bag is Christian Louboutin's most beloved and coveted.
The Philippines, home to many ethnic groups across 7,000 islands, is blessed with abundant natural resources of diverse colors. The gradation of blue in the lagoon and the dazzling pearlescent glow of seashells. Inspired by the country's diverse culture and traditions, Christian designed two limited edition "Manila Kaba" bags in denim blue and black satin.
"Manila Kaba" Denim Blue (¥189,000)
Amid Manila's famous traffic jams, trucks gleam with vibrant colors in the sunlight. Jeepneys, beloved as a cultural heritage of Manila, were originally left behind by the U.S. military after World War II. They are covered in colorful decorations to ward off evil spirits. Christian was immediately drawn to the style of the people who found joy in life even amidst the city's dreadful traffic jams. The Manila Caba was born from his admiration for this cheerful atmosphere. The front of the tote bag is embroidered with sequins and cotton thread, playfully depicting a jeepney packed with people.
The bold, impactful pattern on the lining also embodies the passionate lifestyle of the people of Manila. Upon closer inspection, the truck's destination is written in small letters, revealing Christian's rich sense of humor. The bright colors of Filipino design are woven symmetrically, and the designer's name subtly stands out on the side, which is decorated with unique botanical embroidery.
Sparkling, eye-catching sequins sewn around the central red frame are reminiscent of the pearlescent color of seashells found throughout the Philippines. Christian Louboutin's signature spikes on the handle add a bold spice to the Manila Kaba.
"Boatlove Flat" (¥125,000)
Also available at the pop-up are the "Boatlove Flat" sneakers (¥125,000) and the "Dandylove 20" dress shoes (¥125,000), both of which will be available exclusively at the Isetan Shinjuku store.
