According to the calendar, Golden Week finally begins this weekend! This year's Golden Week will be a maximum of nine consecutive days off, and many people will likely choose to spend the time relaxing in Tokyo and its surrounding areas instead of traveling domestically or abroad. For those people, we've put together a list of recommended spots to visit in and around Tokyo.

First up, we've picked out six food festivals where you can enjoy a huge selection of delicious food, from bread and coffee to German beer and B-grade gourmet food. Eat your fill!



Held over two days, April 28th and 29th!


The "Gourmet Street Food" food festival, featuring a huge selection of B-grade gourmet foods, is being held! (April 28th and 29th)

"Gourmet Street Food Vol. 5" will be held at the United Nations University in Aoyama over two days, April 28th and 29th. Enjoy "Tokyo Gourmet Street Food," a taste of traditional "street food" evolved by young chefs, featuring yakisoba, yakitori, crepes, chocolate bananas, and more. The exhibitors will include famous restaurants such as PATH from Tomigaya (exhibiting crepes), Minimal (exhibiting chocolate bananas), Bistro Rojiura from Shibuya (exhibiting roast pork), and Kitade Shokudo from Bakurocho (exhibiting tacos).



"Coffee Collection", bringing together the world's finest coffees, will be held in Kanda! (4/28, 29)

"Coffee Collection Around Kanda Nishikicho 2018 Spring", an event bringing together the world's finest coffees from Japan and abroad, will be held for two days from April 28th, with the main venue being the Terrace Square complex in Kanda Nishikicho. The event will feature "10 specialty coffee shops that you really should try right now," including Passage Coffee, Single O Japan, Woodberry Coffee Roasters, and Obros Coffee 1095. Jimbocho's Komiyama Bookstore and the mobile bookstore BOOK TRUCK will also be participating, allowing you to enjoy books to accompany your coffee.



An Event for Bread Lovers


Bakeries from all over the Chuo Line will be gathering! Come to Ogikubo's "Aozora Culture Festival" this Golden Week (May 5th and 6th)

The "Aozora Culture Festival," bringing together delicious and fun spring treats on the rooftop, will be held for two days at Lumine Ogikubo. A huge gathering of 9 shops, including popular bakeries along the Chuo Line, such as Boulangerie Ecrin (Shin-Koenji), PIN no Mise (Shin-Nakano), Wagamama Demeter (Tachikawa), Pochikoro Bagel (Nishi-Ogikubo), and Ritokichi Bagel (Mitaka)!



A bread festival, 58 popular bakeries and general stores gather in Saitama Shintoshin! Shops from all over the country, including Nogami and Oheso Cafe & Bakery (until May 6th)

Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse's German Spring Festival! Enjoy beer and a traveling amusement park at "Frühlingsfest 2018" (April 27th - May 6th)

The annual Golden Week event, "Yokohama Frühlingsfest 2018," will be held for 10 days at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse Event Square and Red Brick Park. This year's event is based on the concept of a fish market and will feature seafood dishes such as "Hamburger Panfish" and "Hamburger Garlic Shrimp," as well as a 30-meter-wide beer counter. Relax and enjoy the spring weather on the lawn of Red Brick Park, overlooking Yokohama Port.



Kyoto's popular fruit sour specialty store opens for a limited time only (until 4/26) at Hibiya Central Market
