The "Lemon Sour Festival 2018" has been scheduled to take place in seven cities across Japan. It will kick off at Tokyo's Kabukicho Cinecity Plaza from April 5th to 7th, with further events planned for Osaka, Sendai, Nagoya, Sapporo, Fukuoka, and Yokohama.
This event is Japan's first large-scale food and beverage event specializing in lemon sour, and was first held at Nakame Arcas in Nakameguro in 2017. It was started with the desire to let more people know about the appeal of lemon sour, which has become increasingly popular, especially among young people. This event allows people to enjoy a wide variety of lemon sours with food, including the standard "original lemon sour" made with shochu, carbonated water, and lemon, as well as "evolved lemon sours" made with frozen lemons and lemons preserved in syrup. Last year, despite the bad weather caused by a typhoon, the event attracted 5,208 people over two days and served a total of 6,679 lemon sours.
