The first pop-up event for the men's brand "kiryuyrik," created by designer Masakatsu Takayanagi, is being held on the second floor of the Isetan Men's Building until June 25th. The event features an advance sale of the 2013-14 Fall/Winter collection. This season, Takayanagi explains, "We've shortened the lengths of our items to create a new, balanced look." The collection includes revivals of early prints, popular rose-lined three-piece suits and leather jackets, and new additions to the classic Napoleon series, including fur-lined and velvet versions. This marks the brand's first large-scale promotion at a major department store. Additionally, the brand's children's clothing line is available exclusively at Re-Style Kids at Isetan Shinjuku.
Kiryu Kiryu was founded in 2002 by Takayanagi Shigekatsu, who had experience in planning and pattern making at Yohji Yamamoto, and Taniyama Yuki, who was in charge of press, when they went independent. They made their debut at the Tokyo Collection in 2003. From the 2005-2006 Autumn/Winter period, they exhibited at Paris joint exhibitions such as "CASABO HOMME" and "TRANOI". They currently hold independent exhibitions in Paris. Their products are sold in countries around the world, including Los Angeles, New York, Belgium, Spain and Hong Kong, and their clients include Steven Tyler, Usher, the Backstreet Boys and Ichiro.
