The "I Want to Work" exhibition, celebrating the 15th anniversary of the launch of the Hobonichi Newspaper (Hobonichi), a website run by Shigesato Itoi, opened at Parco Museum on June 6th and runs until the 17th. The exhibition is divided into six themes, including "Miura Jun's Narrative Video" and "Work Theory in Tohoku." The Hobonichi Store, which is usually available online, has also been repurposed as a souvenir corner within the venue. Popular products from companies featured in "Work Theory in Tohoku" are also available for purchase. The exhibition showcases past Hobonichi projects as well as ongoing projects. Also on display is CACUMA, a clothing brand launched by KIGI designer Yoshie Watanabe and Hobonichi. This marks Watanabe's first time designing clothing. At its debut on the 20th, 27 items featuring Watanabe's graphics, including blouses, linen skirts, and dresses, will be sold at Hobonichi.
"The content that recorded the highest number of hits in Hobonichi's history (in the archives) is the story of a university student's job hunting. When we thought about what topic the younger generation is most interested in today, we decided it was 'work,' so we focused on how to express this serious topic in a fun way," said a Parco public relations representative.
From 2pm on June 15th, a talk event will be held with Itoi Shigesato, Saito Kazue (Saikichi Shoten, Kesennuma), and Kono Michihiro (Yagisawa Shoten, Rikuzentakata) on the theme "Starting from 'Nothing.'"
