Feb 14, 2018
The Isetan Shinjuku Main Building, 5th Floor Art Gallery, will host the "Yayoi Kusama Prints" exhibition from February 21st to March 6th. Yayoi Kusama, who was active mainly in New York from the late 1950s to the 1970s and was known as the "Queen of the Avant-Garde," attracted public attention in the 1960s with her bold performances known as "Happenings," in which she would wear polka dots on her body. A major retrospective exhibition began at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in 1998 and traveled to the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Walker Art Center, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo. She is now recognized worldwide as one of Japan's leading contemporary artists. On October 1, 2017, she opened her own art museum, the Yayoi Kusama Museum.
