The Vangi Sculpture Garden Museum will host an exhibition by Yoshihiro Suda, an up-and-coming artist who has received acclaim both in Japan and abroad for his installations of intricately crafted flower and plant sculptures that are indistinguishable from the real thing.

A self-taught woodcarver, Suda has created a variety of plants by delicately carving and painting thin petals, leaves, and slender vines from magnolia wood. The presence of a single flower or a small weed dramatically changes the appearance of the entire space, bringing fresh surprises to us and quietly questioning the meaning of the act of looking itself.

This exhibition features a number of Suda's latest works, focusing on clematis, a plant that has long been an interest of his. Drawing on his interest in its history as a horticultural variety and its sculptural beauty, Suda's clematis are created through deep observation of their subjects, stimulating our sense of beauty. Furthermore, Suda's installation exhibition method, which closely links the artwork to the museum space, creates an experience that can only be experienced here.

The museum also boasts a Clematis Garden, which changes color with the seasons. From spring to autumn, during the six-month exhibition period, various clematis will bloom in the garden, allowing visitors to enjoy a clematis competition in both the museum and the garden.

In addition, an opening talk by the artist himself will be held from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm on April 22nd, and gallery talks by curators will be held on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month from 3:15 pm. In addition, there will be a special public viewing of the works being created this summer.
