Feb 1, 2018
The "Sweets Collection" is being held at the event venue on the 7th floor of the main building of Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store, showcasing a wide variety of special chocolates in preparation for Valentine's Day on February 14th. This year's event will bring together around 110 brands under the theme of "sweet treat." Brands making their first appearance include JITSK, a new generation chocolatier from Belgium making its first appearance in Japan; Venchi, an Italian company founded in 1878; the Japan Taste Association, where you can compare chocolates to check your taste buds (the age of your tongue); Chocolat de Kissho par Tomomi Chiba, a collaboration between Tomomi Chiba, former chef patissier at the Renaissance Paris Le Parc Trocadero hotel, and Hiroya Yoshikawa, the fourth generation owner of Yoshikawa Dyeing, a long-established Kyoto hand-painted yuzen dyeing company; and HOMARE, a limited edition chocolate by Bel Amer, in collaboration with Yamadaya Manju, a Japanese confectionery shop that has been in business for over 150 years.

Eesk's "Selection 6" (6 pieces/2,268 yen including tax) is a box containing a selection of six of the brand's most representative pieces, including a chocolate made with a combination of yuzu and mango jelly paste and wrapped in white chocolate.

Venchi's "Venchi 140th Anniversary 4-Piece Set" (4 pieces/1,620 yen including tax) is a special 140th anniversary set that includes the new "Tiramisu" and "Supram Praline."

The Japan Taste Association's "Taste Test Chocolate NORMAL" (10 pieces/2,139 yen) is a unique set of chocolates that allows you to check whether you can correctly recognize the basic human tastes of sweetness, saltiness, sourness, bitterness, and umami.

HOMARE "An Cacao Chocolat Assortment" (9 pieces/3,024 yen) is a dream combination of chocolate, combining ganache with the silky smooth bean paste of Yamadaya manju.

Other notable items include a special chocolate bar from chocolate specialist store green bean to bar CHOCOLATE, which is only available at the Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store, a limited edition set from VESTRI, famous for its chocolate that you scoop up with the included spoon, and crispy sable chocolates from Laurent & Kyoko Duchesne in Paris.

Green Bean to Bar Chocolate "Chocolate Bar NIHOMBASHI" (1 bar/1,944 yen including tax) is a Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi exclusive product made with chocolate made from cocoa beans from the Dominican Republic, topped with dried raspberries and cocoa nibs. Vestri's "Antica Gianduia Nihonbashi Limited" (2 pieces/3,024 yen including tax) is a set of two flavors, the strawberry-flavored "Fragola" and the new "Vanilla Bianca" inspired by vanilla gelato, which can only be found at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi.
