Guitarist Miyavi has become the first Japanese artist to collaborate with Casio's watch brand, G-SHOCK.
In the music video for his new song "Horizon," released on the 18th, Miyavi appears wearing a G-SHOCK throughout the entire video. The watch he's wearing is the G-SHOCK GW-6900GW7JF (22,050 yen), released in June. This sleek white and black model features a multi-band 6 radio-controlled solar-powered watch that automatically adjusts the time and receives standard radio waves from six stations around the world: two in Japan, China, the US, the UK, and Germany. While Miyavi's label, Universal Music Group, has previously collaborated with artists such as Eminem and Rihanna, this is the first time they've collaborated with a Japanese artist. Miyavi will also be appearing as a headliner at the mixed culture event "Shock the World in Japan "Real Toughness" Shonan," celebrating the 30th anniversary of G-SHOCK, on the 14th of next month. Miyavi was born in Osaka in 1981. He is known for his unique style of playing the electric guitar with his fingers, without a pick. He has performed over 200 shows in 30 countries and has embarked on three world tours. His album "MIYAVI," released in Japan on the 19th, will be released in October in European countries such as the UK, France, and Germany, and Asian countries such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore, before expanding to South America, North America, and other countries around the world. Following the "MIYAVI "SLAP THE BEAT" TOUR 2013," which began on September 16th and will visit six locations in Japan, further world tour dates will be announced. He gave a live performance at the opening reception of CATORCE in Aoyama, Tokyo, which carries 14th addiction. He is also a regular user of the brand.
