Giorgio Armani's Fall/Winter 2018-19 men's collection was unveiled in Milan on January 15th. The collection was composed of grayish, earthy tones, and the beautiful changes in surface texture, created by the model's movements, showcased the softness of the textiles. Armani's research into evolving materials this season resulted in sophisticated pieces that play on the changing light, with a milky white rather than a flashy sheen.
A washed, shiny corduroy suit, with its soft texture, evokes a relaxed atmosphere that is uniquely Armani. A high-cut six-button, four-breasted jacket paired with loose-fitting trousers and a patchwork leather shoulder bag created a luxurious look on its own. This season's signature look features bottoms in lustrous fabrics like velour, corduroy, and crisp worsted or silk, paired with tops in fabrics reminiscent of Armani's archives, such as cashmere, baby alpaca, and wool with soft, textured plaids, birdseye, and soft tweed. Inner shirts, knitwear, and vests are each crafted with contrasting textures and lustrous materials, creating balance through buttoning. The silhouette, shaped high at the chest in both single-breasted and double-breasted jackets, is exemplified by this season's eight-button, six-button jackets and suits. Pants, tapered from a relaxed fit to the ankle, are designed to be paired with boots. Military flight jackets, now crafted from high-quality leather, mouton, and sheepskin, offer a fresh look for young, new fans, while being a heartwarming addition for Armani fans from the '80s and '90s.
