Virgil Abloh's OFF-WHITE c/o VIRGIL ABLOH™ held his Fall/Winter 2018-19 collection show at the Pompidou Centre in Paris. Believing that the generation that passes through streetwear is unlikely to move on to formal wear, the designer deliberately focused on tailoring when creating his clothes. Even suit silhouettes that appear simple at first glance feature buttoned belts at the trouser hems, the words "Off-White business casual" printed on them, and sleeveless jackets with cut and sewn-together sections. Mouton jackets with large lapels, blousons with red dishcloth-like stripes, and knitwear are all tailored oversized, with some outerwear featuring zippers at the elbow of the left sleeve. Sweatshirts are coordinated underneath. The asymmetrical cut creates a drape, giving the garment a unique silhouette and a sense of volume. This technique was also applied to polo shirts and long-sleeve T-shirts.
A particularly striking look was the blue and white jacquard jacket and denim pants set. The fusion of the heavy Rococo patterned top and workwear was fresh, creating a look that symbolized Abloh's unrestrained creativity.
