
Actress Meryl Streep was born on June 22, 1949, in New Jersey, USA. She studied acting at Yale University Graduate School and began her career as a stage actress. She made her film debut in 1977 with "Julia." She received her first Academy Award nomination the following year for "The Deer Hunter." She won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for "Kramer vs. Kramer" in 1979 and the Academy Award for Best Actress for "Sophie's Choice" in 1982. She subsequently became a regular in awards, receiving 16 Academy Award nominations and 26 Golden Globe nominations. In 2011, she won three Best Actress awards: the Academy Award, the Golden Globe Award, and the BAFTA Award for her role in "The Iron Lady." She holds the record for the most Oscar nominations. In 2006, she played Miranda, editor-in-chief of fashion magazine Runway. Miranda is said to be modeled after Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of American Vogue. Meryl Streep won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her role in this film.
In her personal life, she married sculptor Don Gummer in 1978 and had four children. Her daughter, Mamie Gummer, is an actress and became the face of the advertising campaign for French brand Gerard Darel in 2009.
