■ "The Story of The Face"

This book traces the history of The Face, a leading UK culture magazine of the 1980s and 1990s that was home to Kate Moss's debut and Wolfgang Tillmans' breakthrough, from its launch to its closure, with cover and interior images. Part 1 of this two-part series focuses on the magazine's emergence in the 1980s under Nick Logan, including Neville Brody's visionary graphic design, Nick Knight's dramatic fashion photography, and Ray Petrie's "Buffalo" styling. During this time, The Face was an early showcase for the work of Robert Mapplethorpe, Bruce Weber, and Cindy Sherman, and offered a fresh perspective on mainstream magazines like Vogue, featuring iconic cover stars such as David Bowie, Annie Lennox, Prince, George Michael, and Adam Ant. The July 1990 issue's cover story featuring a 15-year-old Kate Moss is now legendary. Part 2 traces how, after overcoming a libel lawsuit against Jason Donovan, The Face shifted its focus from London to the countryside in the 1990s, pioneering Britpop, BritArt, and other post-acid house trends.
