3.1 Phillip Lim, a challenging eclecticism that shines through minimalist style [Pre-Fall 2018]

Jan 7, 2018

3.1 Phillip Lim has unveiled its Pre-Fall 2018 collection. It features a free-spirited and fresh wardrobe that mixes youthful elegance with casual luxury. The brand's signature eclecticism dynamically blends different themes and genres, continuing its quest for unconventional personal style. Starting with sharp monochrome styles that skillfully incorporate traditional maritime elements, the collection highlights expressive Irish fisherman knits, cropped or styled with dropped shoulders for an effortless feel. A lustrous military coat inspired by nautical elements is playfully enhanced with lace cuffs and colored knitwear. Styles that exude a gypsy spirit feature bright colors and bold silhouettes with ample gathers for an easy and relaxed look. Nostalgic gingham checks are presented in new, carefully calculated proportions. This is achieved through manipulation techniques, ruching and draping. Furthermore, mushroom pleated dresses are sewn with patchwork-like lace and sequins, and a mix of folkloric elements create unexpected patterns and rich textures. Hard materials such as metallics and leather are used for bags, shoes and accessories, creating an edgy look that contrasts well with the minimalist clothing.
