Lumine is launching a project called "KOKO LUMINE," promoting Japanese craftsmanship with three themes: "supporting local production areas," "regional coexistence," and "supporting reconstruction." As the first step, the "rooms Local Crafts Shop," organized by H.P. France, organizers of the "rooms" joint exhibition, will open for a limited time from the 27th to August 4th at Lumine Est Shinjuku, next to Shinjuku Station's Central East Exit. The shop will sell a wide variety of items collected from all over Japan, including food, clothing accessories like bags and scarves, tenugui hand towels, and pouches. Many artisanal products from the Tohoku region will also be on sale, including Watanabe Daruma's "Mame Daruma" (210 yen), Rokuhara Hariko's "Okiagari Koboshi" (2,100 yen), and Concierge's "Bird Bag" (29,400 yen).
This project is being undertaken across the entire Lumine building in order to convey and disseminate the importance and spirit of Japanese manufacturing, as well as the background to its unique culture. The name "Koko Lumine" embodies two ideas: the importance of what comes from "here (the production area/region)" and the "heart" that goes into Japanese artisans' manufacturing, with the themes of "supporting production areas," "regional coexistence," and "supporting reconstruction."
