Seiko Watch Corporation will release a limited edition Grand Seiko model commemorating the 55th anniversary of the "44GS" on August 19th.

The "Seiko style" pursues the essence of a watch.
The "Seiko style" is a design grammar devised to give Grand Seiko, which was born with the aim of achieving the pinnacle of precision, an appearance befitting a luxury wristwatch. The Seiko style, which produces brilliantly shining wristwatches, was established with the release of the "44GS" in 1967. At its root is Japanese aesthetic sense. This style, which creates beauty by manipulating the light emanating from the mirrored surface and the shadows cast by the three-dimensional shapes, is achieved through advanced artisanal techniques, including "Zaratsu polishing," which polishes the surface to a smooth, beautiful, distortion-free surface.

The dial reflects the "Tsukitenshin" (the center of the moon) of a full moon floating in a clear night sky.

The deep navy dial, with its delicate radial embossed pattern, evokes the clear night sky. The gold-colored GS logo evokes the full moon shining in the mid-heaven, and the silently moving second hand sparkles like light spilling from the full moon, further highlighting the tranquil lunar appearance. This special design evokes the beautiful and impressive scenery of "Getsu Tenshin," a setting unique to the Spring Drive movement. The minute and second hands, whose tips gently curve toward the dial, are hand-bent to minimize their distance from the dial, improving readability. Like the original 44GS, the watch uses box crystal. Not only does it add to its classic aesthetic, but the reduced thickness of the bezel also lowers the watch's overall center of gravity, resulting in a comfortable fit. The hand-wound Spring Drive movement, Caliber 9R31, is manufactured by Shinshu Toki no Takumi Kobo and boasts a 72-hour power reserve thanks to a dual spring barrel mechanism using two power springs in a single barrel. As proof of its special status, the case back is engraved with the words LIMITED EDITION and a serial number.

Since its launch in 1960, Grand Seiko is a brand that has made continuous progress, striving to create the finest wristwatches, pursuing and realizing the essential qualities of a wristwatch - accuracy, beauty, and legibility - at a high level. Since beginning full-scale global expansion in 2010, Grand Seiko has earned high praise around the world for the highest level of performance and sophisticated design that only a true manufacture, one of the few in the world, can achieve.
