After working as the first female art director at the Doyle Dane Bernbach advertising agency in the 1960s, Sheila Metzner turned to photography. Sheila Metzner was the first female regular photographer at Vogue during the era of Irving Penn and Richard Avedon. Starting with Valentino, she worked for a wide range of clients, including Fendi, Elizabeth Arden, Shiseido, and Ralph Lauren, and captivated readers with her painterly, romantic style, often depicted with rough grain. This book features over 300 works, including fashion editorials, as well as family photos, portraits, landscapes, flowers, and still lifes taken in the 1960s. Whether photographing celebrities or children, fashion or landscapes, Metzner's aesthetic and style permeate all of her work.
