Swiss luxury watch brand TAG Heuer presents the TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre Heuer 02 Purple Dial Limited Edition, a bold new interpretation of the famous racing chronograph. First introduced in 1969, the distinctive square chronograph has maintained its avant-garde spirit for decades, garnering popularity with numerous variations on the original blue dial.
In 2022, a never-before-seen model will be released in a limited edition of 500 individually numbered pieces. The new TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre Heuer 02 Purple Dial Limited Edition combines unmistakable heritage with fresh, distinctive finishes.
The 39mm square case in stainless steel, featuring a combination of brushed and polished finishes, houses the elegant, high-quality purple dial. The gradation from a bright central purple to an edgy dark purple gives the watch depth and sophistication, while the rhodium-plated indexes and hands, white Super-LumiNova, and two black opaline-plated sub-counters subtly complement the unprecedented smoky color.
There are subtle similarities with the early Heuer Monaco Reference 1113B (Chronomatic version) introduced in early 1969, the earlier transitional series known as "McQueen," and the Reference 1533 Calibre 15. These examples featured a different finish: metallic blue paint over a brass dial. Over time, the dial will tend to fade from blue to a more purple hue, sometimes with a slight fading in the center and darkening at the edges.
This 2022 interpretation of TAG Heuer's in-house chronograph movement, the Calibre Heuer 02, features a unique rotor, column wheel, and Côtes de Genève stripes, all of which can be seen through the sapphire case back. The column wheel, a hallmark of haute horlogerie, is also highlighted by a purple hue. This movement offers excellent timing performance, including a power reserve of approximately 80 hours. An additional special touch is the black alligator strap with a purple lining, and the model number XXX/500 is engraved on the caseback.
With this new beauty, the TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre Heuer 02 Purple Dial Limited Edition explores new design territory without losing sight of the brand's unique heritage.
The TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre Heuer 02 Purple Dial Limited Edition will be available exclusively at TAG Heuer boutiques from July 2022.
