
Singer Cheryl Cole was born on June 30, 1983, in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. She appeared in commercials and dance competitions from a young age. In 2002, she formed Girls Aloud with fellow members Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding, and Nadine Coyle, who won a British dance competition. Their debut single reached number one on the UK charts. Their subsequent singles and albums continued to be hits, and they grew into one of Britain's leading pop groups. In 2009, the members began solo careers. Cheryl was the first member to release a solo album, which reached number one on the UK charts. Girls Aloud reformed in 2012, but suddenly announced their disbandment in March of this year.
Cheryl has been named the best dressed woman by a British women's fashion magazine and the "sexiest woman" by a men's magazine.
In her personal life, she married soccer player Ashley Cole in 2006, but they divorced in 2010.
