Namie Amuro features as a guest vocalist on the new album "TLC20 - 20th Anniversary Hits," by American R&B group TLC, celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut. This marks Amuro's first time appearing on a Western artist's track.
The album features newly recorded versions of 13 of TLC's signature songs, which dominated the 1990s. Amuro also contributed parts and choruses to the late Left Eye on "Waterfalls," a smash hit that topped the US singles charts for seven consecutive weeks in 1995. The album will be released in Japan on June 19th, but "Waterfalls (20th Anniversary Version)" is already available digitally ahead of the album's release.
TLC was formed by T-Boz, Left Eye, and Chilli. Since their debut in 1992, they have won four Grammy Awards and sold over 65 million albums worldwide, making them the best-selling girl R&B group of all time. Although rapper Left Eye died in a traffic accident in 2002, T. Boz and Chilli continued working together. Amuro had known Chilli of TLC for some time, and this collaboration came about when TLC selected her as one of Japan's leading artists.
