Cosmetics brand M.A.C. has released a lipstick called "RiRi Woo" (2,940 yen) designed by musician Rihanna. It will be available exclusively on the brand's official online shop on May 9th.
The limited edition model is based on M.A.C.'s signature deep red lipstick, "Ruby Woo," which was originally Rihanna's favorite, and features her nickname "RiRi" engraved on the lipstick.
In addition to lipstick, the brand plans to produce nail products, eye palettes, brushes, and other accessories under the "RiRi (heart mark) M.A.C." The second wave of five items will be released on the brand's official online shop in June.
In addition to her work as a musician, Rihanna often appears on the covers of fashion magazines and wears Givenchy at concerts. M.A.C. has engaged in social contribution activities through fashion, including with Gucci and H&M. A collaborative collection with the British brand River Island was released in March. M.A.C. also has deep ties to fashion, having worked on makeup for numerous fashion shows and collaborating with brands such as Dress Camp, Alexander McQueen, DSQUARED2, and Heatherette. At Shibuya Hikarie and Shinjuku Lumine, the brand has adopted a unique strategy of opening new stores on the fashion floor rather than the cosmetics floor. The brand is also known as a celebrity favorite. To support those living with HIV/AIDS, the brand developed its own lipstick and lip glass as part of its "M.A.C Viva Glam" project. All sales are donated to an AIDS foundation run by M.A.C., supporting those battling HIV/AIDS. Previous endorsements include Lady Gaga, Cyndi Lauper, and Fergie, and in spring 2012, Nicki Minaj joined the cause.
