Nihonbashi Takashimaya S.C., a new urban shopping center anchored by the Takashimaya Nihonbashi store, opened on September 25, 2018. It announced a total of 114 specialty stores, including stores making their Japan debut in the new building and Galleria in the main building, as well as stores making their first appearance in a commercial facility. Symbolizing the Takashimaya Group's "urban development strategy," Nihonbashi Takashimaya S.C. will feature a newly constructed and expanded specialty store area adjacent to the Takashimaya Nihonbashi store. The main building will be the Takashimaya Nihonbashi store, while the new building (basement floors 1-7) will be located along Chuo-dori Street; the east building (fourth and fifth floors) will open in spring 2018 along Showa-dori Street; and Watch Maison (fourth and second floors), which opened in 2015. The new urban shopping center will have a total sales floor area of approximately 66,000 square meters. The main building will be connected to the new building, and the main building to the east building will be connected by two connecting bridges and an underground passage.
The overall concept of the facility is "A store that promotes beautiful lifestyles." Nihonbashi Takashimaya, Japan's first Important Cultural Property, will promote lifestyle suggestions that it has long cherished. The lineup of 114 stores has been unveiled, including two stores making their Japan debut, two stores making their Tokyo debut, 12 stores with new business formats, and 11 stores making their commercial facility debut.
The "Promenade" on the first floor of the main building's Galleria will feature popular Yoyogi Hachiman bakery "365 Days" (with eat-in), Kinokuniya's "KINOKUNIYA entrée," and "GMT FACTORY," where you can get your shoes and bags repaired before work. Additionally, all-day dining establishment N2 Brunch Club, making its first appearance in Japan from Australia, long-established French beauty specialist OFFICINE UNIVERSELLE BULY, and Fauchon Café (tentative name) will open in the new pedestrian space Nihonbashi Galleria, which will be built between the main building and the new annex. The basement floor will be a food zone, including eat-in options. 15 stores will appear, including Tokyo Curry Stand HATONOMORI, which will be opening in the facility for the first time, GREENBOWL, a slow food stand featuring vegetables, and Okazu French MANON, a sister restaurant of a bistro in Nihonbashi.
The second and third floors of the fashion zone will house "TOMORROWLAND," which will be on par with the 665-square-meter flagship store, as well as Sasabee League's "ebure," Baycrew's "journal standard Furniture," and Kirishima Karen's "HOUSE OF LOTUS."
The fourth floor will house yoga studio "libéry" and Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten Group's new tea ceremony school and tea utensil specialty store "Salon," while the fifth floor will house "STARBUCKS COFFEE®" and the select shop "BRICK & MORTAR."
On the 6th and 7th floors of the restaurant zone, Sapporo Sushi Natsume Nihonbashi, one of Susukino's most popular sushi restaurants, will open its first location outside Hokkaido. Other options include Sohonke Sarashina Horii, which has been serving Sarashina soba noodles since its founding in 1794; SEPTIÈME Brasserie & Bar, a new restaurant created by the team behind Omotesando's popular TWO ROOMS Grill & Bar; and BROZERS, a popular gourmet burger restaurant in Ningyocho that will be opening its first location in the facility.
In addition, City Road 284, which runs between the main and new buildings, will be turned into a pedestrian-only road, and a large roof will be installed above the road to create a Galileo space. Additionally, an underground plaza will be created to widen the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line concourse, and a new underground walkway will be installed in the underground space between the New Building and the Main Building, creating an underground pedestrian network. Furthermore, the Nihonbashi Green Terrace, one of the largest rooftop gardens in Tokyo, will be established on the rooftop of the Main Building and above the basement rooms of the New Building and East Building, and parking will be provided in the basements of the New Building and East Building.
