Stella McCartney has released the latest short film, directed by German filmmaker Marie Schuller, as part of its #StellaBy series of collaborative works with artists. Shot in Tokyo, the film's theme is a "fable for Japanese women in a bold new era," establishing their own unique identity and breaking away from control. The film incorporates elements of "rebellion" and "individuality" with Japanese culture and identity, capturing the intense energy of the city of Tokyo from a unique perspective. The film features female dancers, including models Chiharu and Aya. Dressed in ready-to-wear pieces from Stella McCartney's Fall/Winter 2017 collection and the latest collection from adidas by Stella McCartney, the images move from scenes of coordinated movement, moving in a straight line, to scenes of rebellion in the gritty darkness of Tokyo's nightlife, depicted with the monogram. The images depict women breaking away from established order, skillfully moving through the city and liberating themselves. Marie Schouler's signature energetic storytelling reflects the brand's individuality and modern femininity through powerful, confrontational images.
Regarding her visit to Tokyo, Marie Schouler said, "I was captivated by the efficiency of the city." Regarding the latest collection that made an impact on the visuals and story, he said, "The clothes have great movement and fluidity, which was perfect for this shoot. The color red is one of the important themes throughout the collection. It's a statement of will and gives energy. It's also a very innovative color, so I think it really boosted the dancers' confidence in their performance."
