NY Daimaru Seisakusho 2 exhibits artwork at Shibuya Graphpaper pop-up

A pop-up store for "OVERCOAT," developed by New York-based coat brand Oomaru Seisakusho 2, is open from October 7th to the 15th at Shibuya's curated select shop Graphpaper.

For this exhibition, titled "SLANTED," the 1,560 x 700mm canvas on Graphpaper's iconic wall, which also functions as a gallery, is likened to a torso, and coats graded with the diagonal defined as shoulder width are fitted.

The measurements for the brand's signature dolman sleeve overcoat were calculated through actual pattern making. The distortion created by drawing the baseline diagonally, the canvas's stripes and star motif, and the white and purple colors all "express the current state of America." The canvas is made from awning material, developed in collaboration with Komatsu Seiren, a supporter of the brand since its inception.

By pulling the canvas forward, actual products are hung inside, and the new "artificial"-themed collection, unveiled at the New York Fashion Week in February, is also on display. This collection features oversized silhouettes based on trench coats, felted melton, and serge items and short coats, continuing the lineup from the Spring/Summer season. Following this event, a pop-up display of the Fall/Winter collection is scheduled for November 8th to 14th at the Isetan Shinjuku store.

Daimaru Seisakusho 2 was founded in New York in 2008 by pattern maker Ryuhei Daimaru. Highly trusted by designers from New York and overseas, the company launched its own coat project in Fall/Winter 2015.
