Ozaken, also known as Ozawa Kenji, has teamed up with Center Park/TOKYO Kaihoku on the second floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku to open a limited-time shop, "Before the Ice Cream Melts - Ozawa Kenji and the Japan Society for Psychic Surgery's TOKYO Kaihoku," from October 18th to the 31st.
Halloween is becoming more popular every year and has become a staple seasonal event in Japan. In September 2017, Ozawa Kenji and the Japan Society for Psychic Surgery released "Before the Ice Cream Melts," a book that depicts how Halloween is celebrated in the United States, the birthplace of Halloween, and tells a story about a family. Ozawa Kenji and the Japanese Society for Psychic Horror was formed with the goal of promoting fun, exciting horror and countering dreadful, bleak horror. The group is comprised of musician Ozawa Kenji, illustrator Daisuke Hongolian (known for the book design of Pizza of Death Records, the label home to artists like Hi-STANDARD), photographer Elizabeth Cole, fashion director Haruhisa Shirayama, and an unknown number of monsters. This book also features the collaboration of up-and-coming horror photographer Katsuhide Morimoto. Based on "Before the Ice Cream Melts," the limited-time shop will feature a special collaborative space that will make Halloween more accessible and enjoyable. Handmade costumes from the picture book will be on display, and numerous limited-edition items will also be available for purchase. Stay tuned for more information soon.
