A love story of clothing written by beautiful people who complement and love each other [2018 Spring/Summer Women's Collection]

Oct 5, 2017

On September 30th, beautiful people presented their Spring/Summer 2018 collection in Paris. Following on from last season, the collection was unveiled in a presentation format on the official schedule of Paris Fashion Week. The theme was "MAKE LOVE." Kumakiri, known for her innovative collections that transcend stereotypes by combining opposing elements, depicted a love story this season, depicting the moment when a man and woman become one after being attracted to each other.

During the presentation, a model and fitter appeared in the center of the venue, demonstrating how to dress the garments, transforming the look. Cutout pieces in the middle were transformed into a single garment by fastening and unfastening fasteners and buttons. The audience watched with excitement, unable to predict what the finished garments would be and how they would fit together, as the complex process was difficult to predict. Each piece was basic: trench coats, sleeveless long dresses, voluminous skirts, tailored jackets, etc. The overall color palette consisted of muted grays and blacks. The love story that is spun is not one of passionate love, but rather the image of two lovers who love each other as if they complement each other.

Last season, when Kumakiri first presented his collection in Paris, Japan was at the forefront, but this season there is hardly any sense of Japanese elements. This completely different, experimental presentation demonstrates Kumakiri's flexibility and high level of creativity as a designer. We are already looking forward to his next collection in six months.
