Pierpaolo Piccioli's Valentino Spring/Summer 2018 women's collection show took place in the Carnot High School gymnasium in Paris's 17th arrondissement. In other words, the genre sees the moon as a destination, while at the same time, it is a genre that offers new discoveries from a different perspective, emphasizing its dual nature. The collection advocates that the ordinary becomes imaginative, and that forms and colors offer surprise without losing their practicality. Many pieces balanced the decorative and practical. Workwear pieces, such as jumpsuits, trench coats with large pockets, and denim jackets, proved that sophisticated colors and forms can transform real clothing into high fashion. Long dresses were layered with tank tops, and mini dresses were paired with denim shorts, creating an infinitely modern finish. The result was a collection that maintained the traditions of a couture brand while simultaneously impressing with youthful energy through the continuous introduction of ultra-contemporary pieces. It was a powerful collection that left us breathless until the stunning finale, with Grace Jones's "La vie en rose" ringing out.
