Dries Van Noten held his Spring/Summer 2018 women's collection show in the Grand Hall of Paris's City Hall. Beautiful colors were added to the brand's signature motifs, and to highlight them, models walked a white carpet on the runway.
Mixing images from various eras, from the 1920s to the 1980s, the collection utilized dozens of motifs, including hedonistic starfish and flowers, classical and profound motifs like arabesques, and lips, evocative of the surrealism of the 1920s. Materials ranged from natural cotton and silk to light and heavy fabrics like puffed brocade, tulle, and muslin, creating a painterly beauty through layering.
A particularly fresh theme this season was the use of printed scarves. These scarves were tailored into camisoles and skirts, and also incorporated into dresses and tops.
Although this is the case every season, she maintains a free-flowing versatility, drawing on a variety of historical backgrounds and sources of inspiration, presenting the collection in a multifaceted way while maintaining a sense of unity throughout with a common image of an elegant, modern woman who combines strength and kindness. However, the fact that this is always updated and fresh can only be described as the magic of Doris.
