Chanel releases new film exploring the source of founder Gabriel's passion

Aug 29, 2017

CHANEL has released "Gabrielle: In Pursuit of Passion," the 21st chapter of its website "INSIDE CHANEL."

The latest short film celebrates Gabrielle's achievements, who instinctively grasped the mood of the times and acted boldly, breaking away from existing rules and conventions. It explores the founder's innovative creations and the source of her passion through three keywords that express her passion: "SEIZE," "DARE," and "CREATE."

"I'm like the only active volcano in Auvergne," says Gabrielle with a sense of humor. Always seeking action, her inner self was filled with a burning passion, unrelenting drive, exceptional creativity, and a desire to pursue perfection. She also talks about how, through her own passionate and romantic love, she projected the intense emotions of a woman in love into her creations, proposing new styles such as black dresses, tweed jackets, and jersey clothing to women who desired to break free from the trends and social constraints of the time.

Furthermore, as Gabrielle says, "It was artists who taught me what is right," the film touches on world-famous artists such as her friends Jean Cocteau, Salvador Dali, and Pablo Picasso, as well as art and architecture that had a major influence on the Maison's worldview, such as Venetian churches, Baroque style, and Byzantine art.

All of the "Inside Chanel" films are currently available on the CHANEL official website (http://inside.chanel.com). Each film is an invitation to a new story, and can be enjoyed like flipping through a book about the Maison's history and founder.
