TOD'S presented its Spring/Summer 2018 men's collection on June 18th at Villa Necchi in Milan. This season's collection focused on lightweight luxury for the traveler. Items like safari and field jackets in earthy tones like ocean blue and sand beige complemented a masculine, worn-in style, showcasing a refined, lightweight wardrobe crafted with Tod's signature Italian artisanal techniques. What's striking is the use of distressed leather and similarly processed fabrics in the same piece, making the difference indistinguishable. A nappa leather jacket with a denim-like finish is hard to tell it's leather until you pick it up. Similarly, items made from realistic canvas and suede processed to look like fabric are difficult to distinguish from leather until you touch them, making it hard to tell whether they're leather or trompe l'oeil. The brand's premium leather processing techniques have been lightened by adding lighter-weight denim and canvas. The Gommino with the Double T accessory is now entirely made of fabric, and the lightweight, distressed envelope bag also features a new handle, making it more functional for travel. The new ergonomic sneakers feature a perforated upper and four signature pebbles on the heel. Also, as part of this spring/summer capsule collection, the brand unveiled a Gommino and slip-on sneakers featuring the "TODS" logo, themed around surf life. One thing that caused a stir was the absence of the TOD'S apostrophe in the logo. The surfboards on display were also "TODS."
