Proenza Schouler, created by Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, held a show in the corridors of a high school in the Anvers district of Paris's 9th arrondissement. Welcomed to Paris as an invited member of the Syndicate of Haute Couture, the brand presented its Spring/Summer 2018 ready-to-wear collection, an unusual move. In addition to showing in New York, the brand has established a showroom in Paris and presented its collections there, as well as exhibiting its work at the Bon Marché department store in 2014. Proenza Schouler has maintained a deep connection with Paris. This season, however, the brand focused on presenting its collection during the couture season, commissioning independent French workshops to create feather products and embroider them, emphasizing a couture feel. While the collection makes extensive use of floral motifs, feathers are used to create volume, and lingerie elements are incorporated to add a feminine touch. The collection featured highly elaborate materials, such as materials with floral motifs created by heat shrinking and gluing, and silk floral print materials with volume created by weaving thread between fabrics, and the designs were kept simple to bring out the best in these, resulting in structured silhouettes.

Items with what appeared to be organza ruffles were actually all knit, and a tank top that at first glance looked like a knit was actually embroidered with feather pom-poms; it was an enriching collection that made us want to see fully-fledged haute couture pieces.
