20 unique couture capes will be introduced to the world of Burberry. After touring cities around the world, the collection will conclude in Tokyo.

Jul 17, 2017

Burberry will hold a cape event, "THE CAPE REIMAGINED," at CASE B from July 20th to 30th.

Capes, along with trench coats, are one of the brand's iconic pieces, having been created since the brand's founding. Couture capes are made using extremely sophisticated techniques and handcrafted craftsmanship, with some taking approximately 560 hours to make and more than 153,000 hand stitches.

Approximately 80 of these one-of-a-kind couture capes graced the finale of the "2017 February Collection" held in London. After the show, the event traveled to cities such as Seoul, Milan, New York, Shanghai, Los Angeles, and Dubai, and 20 of these will be displayed in Tokyo as the finale.

The event will feature a wide variety of materials, from lace, cotton, tulle, and lace taken from the archives to feathers, crystals, felted wool, tassels, and more. There will also be an exhibition of one-of-a-kind capes that appeared in the fashion show, and a limited edition of 20 copies of the Cape Book will be on sale.
