A huge mobile concert hall appears in Tokyo Midtown!

Jul 21, 2017

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Tokyo Midtown will host the "Lucerne Festival ARK NOVA 2017 in Tokyo Midtown" at Midtown Garden Lawn Park from September 19th to October 4th.

The traditional Swiss music festival, the Lucerne Festival, has planned a mobile concert hall, "ARK NOVA," to support the recovery efforts following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. Designed by world-renowned architect Arata Isozaki and British sculptor Anish Kapoor, the massive hall measures 18 meters high, 30 meters wide, and 36 meters deep.

From 2013 to 2015, the same hall was exhibited in Matsushima, Sendai, and Fukushima. This time, Tokyo Midtown supported the music festival's commitment to ensuring the memory of the disaster is not forgotten, leading to the decision to exhibit it.

During the event, the interior will be open to the public, allowing visitors to see events held in the disaster-stricken areas, as well as concerts and film screenings.
