Starting in January 2015, Grand Hyatt Tokyo will be offering new beer-themed menus at its bars and restaurants. The Oak Door Bar will be introducing new beer-based cocktails. One of these, "El Matador" (1,600 yen), is a spin on the popular Mexican cocktail "michelada," made with Oak Door's homemade Bloody Mary mix, tomato juice, and craft beer. Other drinks on offer include the "Boiler Maker" (1,300 yen), which combines the bitterness of beer with the richness of bourbon; the "Strobier" (1,300 yen), which combines the sweetness of berries with the refreshing carbonation of draft beer; the "Submarino" (1,300 yen), a mix of tequila and beer served in a glass rimmed with margarita salt; and the "Irish Backfire" (1,500 yen), a blend of vodka and Guinness. Meanwhile, the steakhouse Oak Door is offering a "Pairing Dinner" (¥11,500) dinner course, where four craft beers are paired with each dish. The "Cold Sea Bream Appetizer" is perfectly paired with the "Japanese Pale Ale," featuring refreshing green tea and wasabi-like flavors. The main dish, "Beer-Braised Beef Cheek," is paired with "India Pale Beer," offering the characteristic bitterness and richness of hops. Other dishes include "Aged Cheddar Cheek" paired with the fruity "Amber Ale," and "Chocolate Tart" dessert paired with the mellow, sweet "Dark Ale." Beer cocktails will be available from January 2nd, and the pairing dinner will run from January 5th until March 31st. Beer cocktails will be available from 11:30 AM to 1:00 AM, and the pairing dinner from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
