The details of "Ambiente 2015," the world's largest consumer goods trade fair, were announced at "IFFT/Interior Lifestyle Living," one of Ambiente's affiliated trade fairs, which took place at Tokyo Big Sight from February 13 to 17, 2015. Ambiente 2015 is held twice a year and brings together over 4,700 companies from around the world, from leading global companies to up-and-coming young designers. The last time it was held in 2014, 4,749 exhibitors from 89 countries participated over five days, attracting approximately 144,000 visitors from over 160 countries. The event is organized by Messe Frankfurt GmbH, which hosts approximately 100 trade fairs annually around the world. The Ambiente 2015 venue will be divided into three sections: "Dining," "Living," and "Giving." The venue will feature not only tableware, kitchenware, and household goods, but also gift items, housewares, jewelry, cosmetics, interior design, and interior décor, as well as a full range of consumer goods. In addition to product displays, the event will also feature a variety of events, trend presentations, award ceremonies, and promotional programs for young designers. Nicolette Naumann, general manager of Ambiente/Tendence, visited Japan on the first day of IFFT/Interior Lifestyle Living. She stated, "Ambiente has become an unrivaled business platform for the global consumer goods industry. The venue, approximately the size of 46 football fields, has been carefully designed to facilitate business for buyers, allowing them to see high-end design products all under one roof. It can be said to be the most important business venue for the consumer goods industry." The United States has been selected as the fourth partner country, following Denmark, France, and Japan. Following the Frankfurt event, a related trade fair, "Ambiente India 2015," will be held in New Delhi, India, for three days starting June 25, 2015. The "YOUNG DESIGNER AWARD" ceremony, which selects the best designer from among those participating in the "TALENTS" area within IFFT/Interior Lifestyle Living, where young designers under the age of 35 present pre-production prototypes, was also held at the same time. The grand prize went to the three-person design unit "ALT DESIGN WORKS." Based on the concept of "giving form to things that people wish existed," the team presented a ballpoint pen inspired by the gesture of holding a pen over one's ear and a portable test-tube toothbrush. As a special bonus, the winners will be granted the right to exhibit at "Ambiente 2015" in Frankfurt.
