The Belgian luxury leather goods brand DELVAUX's new bag, the Brilliant X-RAY (92,000 yen), will be released in limited quantities at DOVER STREET MARKET GINZA on July 19th. This limited edition of the iconic Brilliant X-RAY bag, released in 1958, is finished with just three stitches, utilizing heat bonding and techniques used in high-quality sports goods. The body is made of PVC (polyvinyl chloride) that allows the contents to be seen, the buckle is made of a resin-like material, and the handle, which is a reproduction of the leather bag's, is made of polyurethane poured into a mold, a break from tradition. It took eight months from development to commercialization.
Delvaux is the world's oldest luxury leather brand, founded in Brussels in 1829 by trunk maker Charles Delvaux. It is a supplier to the Belgian Royal Family, and Brillant was created for the 1958 Brussels World's Fair. This year, the company established a Japanese subsidiary and has made a full-scale entry into the domestic market, opening pop-up shops at Omotesando GYRE and Hankyu Umeda Main Store.
