Fashion designer Nicole Farhi was born on July 25, 1946, in Nice, France.
She began working as a freelance designer in Paris in 1970. After being hired by French Connection's design studio, she launched Nicole Farhi as a brand within the French Connection group in 1973. At the end of 1990, she attracted attention with her logo campaign for FCUK.
French Connection sold the brand in 2010, closing 17 stores in the US, but that same year Massimo Nicosia was appointed head designer of the men's line, marking a fresh start for the brand.
In September 2012, London-born Joanna Sykes was appointed creative director.
