Karen Kirishima, a multi-talented model, actress, and radio personality, will open a limited-time store for her select shop, "House of Lotus," on the 5th floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building's Center Park/The Stage #5 from July 23rd to August 12th.
Last year, she opened "House of Lotus," a select shop in Hiroo, Tokyo, specializing in Asian and African goods. The shop will showcase lifestyle items such as handicrafts, folk tools, and miscellaneous goods selected with her unique sense of style, cultivated through travels around the world.
The themes for this event are "My Room," "My Closet," and "My Favorite," each of which will be presented in three zones. The venue recreated a "home room" by bringing together items not usually featured at House of Lotus, including Scandinavian and European furniture and art that Kirishima uses as interior decor. The "My Room" corner offers a cross-cultural interior design that transcends time and borders, featuring his favorite Scandinavian furniture, vintage tableware, and miscellaneous goods and art from Asia and Africa. Introducing for the first time exclusively for this event, Bhutanese baskets (starting at ¥12,000) are also available. Also on display is a bookshelf of antique Japanese and Western books selected by Yataro Matsuura, editor-in-chief of "Kurashi no Techo" and owner of COW BOOKS. The "My Closet" corner features denim sarouel pants (¥24,000) created in collaboration with Okayama Prefecture apparel manufacturer KAPITAL. Other unique brands on display include Minakusi, Mayumi Murasawa, and Takayuki Kijima. From "My Favorite" we will be introducing candles (from 2,000 yen) made from pottery dyed using the blue and white dyeing technique, a long-loved technique in Thailand.
The buyer in charge said, "Kirishima's store mainly stocks Asian goods, but for this occasion she specially brought European items from her home, and Isetan, after careful consultation, purchased Scandinavian interior goods and miscellaneous items to suit her worldview. The venue will be a valuable opportunity to discover new values and feelings towards Europe (not Asia) that Kirishima doesn't normally get to see."
