Each bookstore will act as a concierge, recommending "the book you should read now" to FASHION HEADLINE readers. Every Thursday, each branch of the art bookshop "NADiff" will introduce a recommended book. This time, we'll be looking at the Aichi/Nagoya branch, NADiff Aichi (1-13-2 Higashisakura, Higashi-ku, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Aichi Arts Center B2F). The store is currently holding a "Box Viewing Fair," showcasing boxes perfect for storing important items and sewing tools. The fair runs until April 5th. ■ "PUNK" by Oki Junko Oki, an embroidery artist who began practicing her own style of embroidery in 2002 and has since attracted attention in the art and fashion worlds. This is the first collection of her work, featuring works from the past 10 years in full color. Countless stitches, each one individually stacked, fill the pages, along with landscapes and objects close to the artist.
As these words, "I gazed intently at the photographs I had taken and embarked on a journey deep into the ocean of my consciousness. When I lined them up, I realized they were so much like me" (excerpt from the endnotes), the book is entirely hand-written by the artist, from the production and photography of the works to the 115 explanatory notes for the works featured in the book. Attention to detail is evident, and the book, including the binding, is a dense finish that beautifully embodies her personality.
