NikeLab and sacai have collaborated to present the NikeLab x sacai women's collection. Drawing on Nike's archives of running, tennis, and American football, sacai's Chitose Abe presents bold styles using innovative materials and techniques. Classic silhouettes are reinterpreted through a feminine, contemporary lens, evolving into pieces that combine functionality and athleticism. The classic Windrunner is reimagined with pleats and transformed into a skirt. A hooded sweatshirt's peplum detail reveals its full form only when it moves. These designs create a collection that will surprise those around you as you turn your head. The panel configuration, strategically placed expansions, and inner fabric create a flowing effect regardless of the garment's movement. For this collaboration, Abe also focused on Nike's iconic Tech Fleece material innovation. He created five pieces: the Tech Fleece Crew, Zip Tech Fleece, Tech Fleece Dress, Back-Zip Tech Fleece Crew Top, and Tech Fleece Pants. These pieces are complemented by items like the Hooded Sweatshirt, Windrunner Skirt, Sport Skirt, and Graphic Tee, all available in a bold color palette. Additionally, the collaboration reinterprets the Air Max silhouette, creating a unique slip-on style. Using a trompe l'oeil technique, the midsole appears to have a wedge-like design. The shoe is crafted from leather, and the elastic tongue utilizes Fuse technology for ultimate comfort. "Just as material innovation has always been at the heart of Sacai, functionality is extremely important to me," Abe said. "To me, Nike is an original icon, with functionality and innovation at its core." "The garments are brought to life as the wearer walks and moves, expressing both beauty and strength at the same time. We feel this is the perfect marriage of sport and style," said Kurt Parker, vice president of Nike Sportswear. The collection will be available at NIKE.COM/NikeLab, NikeLab DSM GINZA, the Sacai Minami-Aoyama flagship store, and at a pop-up shop on the first floor of Isetan Shinjuku, The Stage, on March 25th. A second collection will be released in June, featuring new colorways of the collection, as well as the new Windrunner Skirt, Graphic Nike Tank, and Nike Dunk Lux.
