NikeLab x GYAKUSOU 15SS Collection: Lightweight Running Wear Providing Functionality for Urban Runners

Feb 20, 2015

NikeLab has released its "NikeLab x GYAKUSOU" 15SS collection.

This collection combines Nike's performance technology for elite runners with designer Jun Takahashi's functional details and new silhouettes for urban runners. The sublimated camouflage pattern conveys a sense of speed, while the seemingly raw edges of the fabric are soft and seamless for a comfortable fit next to the skin. Adding to this are pockets for storing valuables and reflective material for increased visibility, resulting in lightweight running wear that provides just the right amount of coverage for warm urban environments.

The "NikeLab GYAKUSOU Utility Short Tights" are the pieces in the collection that most clearly reflect the needs of urban runners. This is the spring/summer model of the NikeLab GYAKUSOU Men's Utility Long Tights, created with the idea of creating a garment that combines the comfort of running shorts with the functionality of tights. The lightweight tights feature a small pocket for keys and coins, and a loose fit like regular sports shorts. Meanwhile, the NikeLab GYAKUSOU Shield Lite Jacket features waterproofing only in key areas, such as the shoulders, hood, and back of the neck, while the rest of the jacket is made of lightweight, water-repellent, and breathable mesh. Features include a hidden zipper pocket, reflective details, and a drawcord hood, making it the ultimate piece of clothing for protecting you from the elements. The NikeLab GYAKUSOU Lightweight Racer Jacket is based on an authentic runner's jacket with a front zip, but features breathable Dri-FIT panels, zippered side pockets, and a logo with contrasting reflective material and font. The NikeLab GYAKUSOU Lunaracer+ 3 combines the feather-lightness of racing shoes with a sublimated camouflage print on the mesh upper, expressing a sense of speed consistent throughout the collection. Also featured are the NikeLab GYAKUSOU Short Sleeve Sweat Map Top and NikeLab GYAKUSOU Long Sleeve Sweat Map Top, based on the Nike Sport Research Lab's "Sweat Map," a map showing sweat loss. These performance shirts first appeared in the GYAKUSOU Spring 2014 collection, and feature knit material for increased breathability in areas where body temperature rises. The Spring 2015 collection sees further enhancements, using the latest sweat map data. A zippered pocket with the GYAKUSOU logo in reflective material is featured near the back hem. The color variations are based on calming tones such as bamboo, driftwood, and mushroom, with vivid colors inspired by warm climates and sports such as sangria, gym red, and team red.

These will be available for pre-sale on the official online shop from February 19th, and will be available in select stores from the 21st.
