IKEA Shibuya's renovated area is complete. The first interior design service area in an urban Japanese store has been established to cater to both individuals and corporations.

Apr 22, 2022
IKEA Japan, the Japanese subsidiary of IKEA, a Swedish home furnishing company with a vision of "creating a better everyday life for the many people," is pleased to announce that the renovated area of IKEA Shibuya, which has been operating with some sales floors scaled down for renovations, will be completed on April 25, 2022. With this renovation, IKEA Shibuya will be reborn as an even more comfortable and convenient shopping space that meets the needs of more customers by consolidating IKEA for Business, a planning space for corporations and business owners.

Key Features of the IKEA Shibuya Renewal:
・5th Floor: New Interior Design Service Area for Individuals and Businesses, and Start of Furniture Assemble Parts
By consolidating IKEA for Business, a planning space for corporations and business owners, on the 5th floor, we have created a new interior design service area catering to both individuals and businesses, the first of its kind in an urban Japanese store. In this area, dedicated advisors with extensive experience and knowledge will provide planning and consulting services, as well as host seminars. A new Planning Studio will also be opened, the first of its kind in an urban Japanese store, offering a selection of furniture assemblages, including kitchens and wardrobes. Room sets designed for small businesses will also be available for viewing.

・2nd floor: Home decoration and relocated circular shop
The home decoration area is filled with affordable products that can easily add color to your daily life, such as candles and interior greenery. The circular shop is committed to a circular business model, selling products that were previously used as display items at discounted prices.

・6th floor: Living rooms, bedrooms, and storage furniture all on display
To meet the needs of people living in urban areas, we will mainly be displaying living rooms, bedrooms, and storage furniture for people living alone or with a partner. Cushions, curtains, rugs, and other textiles will also be on display and for sale on the same floor, allowing customers to see inspiration, ideas, and coordination ideas that are easy to use.

・Additional content to Fotobox, the original photo booth exclusive to IKEA Shibuya!
The popular photo booth, Fotobox, is an original exclusive to IKEA Shibuya, among all IKEA locations worldwide. With this renewal, new background images and stickers will be added. You can enjoy taking photos inside IKEA's proud storage system, the PAX wardrobe, and then easily download the decorated photos on your smartphone. Taking photos and downloading them are all free.

Erina Aoki, Market Manager for IKEA Harajuku, Shibuya, and Shinjuku, had this to say about the renewal: IKEA Shibuya is the first IKEA store in the world to be seven stories tall. It is the largest urban store in IKEA Japan, and houses furniture and miscellaneous goods departments as well as a Swedish restaurant, Swedish food market, Swedish bistro and circular shop. It also offers IKEA Scan&Pay, which allows for a smoother shopping experience using the IKEA app. With this renovation, IKEA Shibuya will evolve into a store with excellent solution capabilities that can meet customers' concerns about home furnishings and business spaces. IKEA Shibuya will be reborn as an even more comfortable and convenient shopping location that meets the needs of even more customers."

In addition, to commemorate the opening of this renovated area, events will be held at IKEA Shibuya from April 25th to May 8th.
