Sep 1, 2015

The official book for the popular late-night radio show "Pack in Music," featuring personalities such as Nishida Toshiyuki and Aikawa Kinya, titled "Pack in Music" (2,500 yen), will be released on September 18th.

"Pack in Music," which aired for 15 years from 1967, is a legendary late-night radio show that is said to be the origin of the radio boom. Its past personalities include Nishida Toshiyuki, Aikawa Kinya, Kojima Kazuyoshi, Kume Hiroshi, Yoshida Takuro, Minami Kosetsu, Chikada Haruo, Osugi to Pico, Yamamoto Kotaro, and Nozawa Nachi, and was so popular that when the show ended, listeners staged protest demonstrations in opposition to its closure. Among them is "Friday Nachi Chako Pack: A Collection of Masterpieces from Legendary Star Contributors Revived Now," a collection of four CDs of masterpieces from "Friday Nachi Chako Pack," which remained unchanged from its broadcasting start to its end.

The newly released "Pack-in Music" was created by Tomoharu Ito, who served as a director of TBS Radio until April of this year. Based on interviews and research with people involved in the production of the program and its performers, it brings back the era of "Pack-in Music" and "radio's hottest days, when young people were enthusiastic." A talk event is also scheduled for September 24th at Shosen Grande in Jimbocho, Tokyo.
